Martin D. Finnegan

Martin Finnegan, the firm’s principal, is a local North Fork Attorney with extensive experience in real estate, land use, zoning and corporate matters.

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Martin practiced in Philadelphia for eight years before relocating with his family to Mattituck in 2000. Prior to starting Finnegan Law, P.C., Martin was an Associate with the firm of Berkman, Henoch, Peterson & Peddy, P.C. in Garden City and a Partner at Twomey, Latham, Shea, Kelley, Dubin & Quartararo, LLP in Riverhead. Martin took a leave from Twomey Latham from 2009 to 2015 to serve as the Town Attorney for his hometown of Southold. Martin’s years of service as counsel to the Town Supervisor, Town Board Members, elected and appointed officials, as well as the Town’s building, planning and zoning departments, gave him a fluid understanding of local land use and zoning regulations and practices that enables him to effectively represent his clients before municipal boards and agencies.

Martin completed his undergraduate studies at Lehigh University and received his Juris Doctorate from Delaware Law School of Widener University. He also studied at the University of Brussels as part of a comprehensive study of the EEC and NATO and University of Padua where he completed an intensive study of international business transactions and law. Martin resides in Mattituck and has served as President and Director of the Mattituck Chamber of Commerce. When he is not practicing law, he enjoys spending time with his wife, their seven children and their extended family on the North Fork.
